Eugene Klementieff, her grandfather, was an artist. Her parents chose the name due to its similar pronunciation to the Korean word for "spring" as well as "tiger". Klementieff is a native of Canada and stayed there for one full year. The family later travelled throughout the world, due to her father's career. They was throughout Japan, Ivory Coast and France prior to making the move to France.
